The Future of Blog: an open letter to you
I select the much used bookmark, peruse the the recent and recommended diaries, then up to the right hand side labled 'tools,' ... One of which i select to begin this madness... and tools they certainly are.
This is Concerning the future of Blogs as means of communication and thusly activism for the causes we liberals seek to uphold, as well as the vices we hope to eradicate. It is preachy and it is written in the form of a speech, because i find it to be the most moving, but i blieve you will enjoy it nonetheless.
Peace!?Hunger!?Shelter!?
We have the means, the motives, the genius, and certainly the rhetoric to use as a leaping point... So? They say now that it is against Human Nature, some innate cruelty to which we all must succumb and wallow about in---Disgrace and Slander in and of itself to our greatest leaders throughout the years; Gandhi, King, Thoreau, and a million nameless others who chose right over battery and perhaps perished in true honor.
continue....
Nevertheless, That is fine, let the excuse stand in plain view for all to see. Let them plaster it up upon all the walls of our cities... shriek it in constant from their pale-glowing infomercials... hum it into the ears of their children as they're lain down to rest... let them make this stigma known: it is best to bring ones problems out into the open... admission is the fist step, mind you...
Let them--It is not human nature to whom we petition.
No, not human nature in the least: it is deeper and far wiser than such a bauble come to be known as Human Nature.
That to which we appeal stands distinctly at the helm of all such similar human developments... developments which we are most certain to cite in the instance our humanity is brought into question, yet disregard with a frenzy the moment the cameras lend queue it is time for the punch-line... to wrap up, to loop the laugh track and cut to commercial...
We will cut to nothing, compromise nothing, cede not one inch in our endeavor toward liberty and justice for all. We will not cut to commercial, for we are the cameramen, the producers, the anchors and the stenographers of our age! We are the thusly dubbed `Bloggers' who appeal to the minds of men through torrents of information and tons upon tons of our respective dialogue.
The people of this nation, and I am one with them, remain here, in the land of bounty, yet over-worked, underpaid, sleep deprived, fear stricken, and, most importantly and most tragically, lonely.
Let this remain one place in which we might congregate freely, interact, communicate and perceive... and, as I know you will, continue to pledge your support to Markos and Duncan and all the various others who seek to keep this medium free from intervention and censorship.
It is said that throughout history the Bad invariably fight the Bad, thus leaving the Good to invariably reign triumphant... We now know that this is merely because the only high ground we're left to walk is the circuitous ridge around a bomb-inflicted crater. Let us have our peaceful means of support and protest, we could not in good conscience stand for another such victory...
Thanks for your time,
Zach, IN
